NS2011 - Maternal/Child Nursing - 6 Credits

This course focuses on the role of the professional nurse in meeting the holistic health needs of the childbearing family. The nursing process is utilized to identify and meet the needs of the childbearing family and to provide family-centered psychosocial and culturally sensitive care. An overview of pediatric nursing with emphasis on the well-child and care of the hospitalized child is included. Concepts of pharmacology specific to the pediatric and maternity client will be presented. (30 hours theory - pediatric, 30 hours theory - obstetric)

Prerequisite: (SO1050 or PS1050), NS2031, and NS2032; (NS2011 and NS2012 must be taken concurrently)
